Catch up..

Well things have been quite busy on the work and home front leaving little time for things like blogging. So with the whole week ahead I decided to do a quick post to keep you up to date.

We have been spending time at some wonderful places with some wonderful people recently. The only thing I am disappointed about is the lack of photos as we continually leave the camera at home or focus on capturing video footage instead.

We are both well. This weekend we head off to a great campsite called “Forest Way”, which is near Stutterheim, for a church camp. Tess is off to a conference in George next week. The new go down to Kleinemonde for a weekend to visit family. In April we head off to Yellowsands for the long weekend at the beginning of the month and we land up in CT at the end of the month for the sound of wedding bells!

Last weekend we were at Morgan Bay which was brilliant. Warm water, mussels straight off the rocks and good company made it a wonderfully relaxing weekend.

In between all of this our lease is coming to and end at our current place of residence and we are trusting GOD for the next step.

That’s us in a nutshell!!

Travels...

I don’t know exactly why although I can think of a number of reasons….but I love driving and taking in and appreciating the area that I live and work in. I am continually grateful to the Lord for Him placing us in East London and for His provision in terms of the work He has for us. I am also grateful that my job entails a fair amount of travel and mostly by road. I am then grateful that most of my traveling is done in the company Land Rover-Freelander (A great name for a travel vehicle I think!) which is a very comfortable fairly nifty vehicle with a more than adequate sound system which as you know is vitally important.
In my travels I have been to Port Elizabeth a couple of times, Port Alfred once and Johannesburg a number of times although this is by plane before picking up the hire car and cruising around. The trip that I make a couple of times a month is into the old Transkei to site. This takes about 3hrs one way. I then spend about 2 hours driving around site for various meetings before spending another 3hrs returning home. By that time I am pretty close to exhausted and do not want to drive another meter. About 3 days later the urge to hit the road returns and I can’t wait to get an early start and head off up the N2.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending a meeting at the Royal Golf Club in Port Alfred. What a beautiful drive over all the rivers. It is only 150km’s away which these days is becoming a drop in a bucket…or is that ocean?! It was a really good day of meeting new people enjoying a lovely lunch before heading back for EL.

Hitting the open road offers the opportunity for much more than just geographic travel….it is such a good time to pray, reflect, praise, worship, dream, think, contemplate and be refreshed internally even as the body tires from the focus and concentration. It is a good thing and I am grateful.

Song of Songs

This past Sunday morining we had a drama production in place of the preach. It was the book "Song of Songs". Following the drama was a reading of the book from start to finish. Tess and I were involved in it so most of the weekend was spent in some kind of practise and gearing towards it. Friday night we had a read-through practise. I read the part of Solomon and Tess was part of the group of friends. That ended quite early so we headed off to Ocean Basket to share a rocking fishy platter with Walt and Gaylene. They were playing the 2 lead roles in the drama of King Solomon and the Shulamnite woman.

Saturday saw us sleep in before running around town picking up a couple of things before home for a swim and a snooze. The heat was PUMPING! Saturday night we had the final night of a 24 hours a day 7 days a week prayer time that Highway has been doing. That finished at 8pm which was the beginning of a full dress rehearsal run through. It was a lot of fun and went well.

We were church early on Sunday to prepare for the drama. It went really well and following the reading we saw some folk come into the Kingdom as they accepted the Lord as Saviour. It was brilliant!!

We then headed off for a braai at the Cock's which was chilled before heading home for a snooze before hooking up with the Thompsons, Fyvies and Marshalls for pancakes.
