Forest Way

We headed up to Forest Way for our "Basic Foundations" weekend away. Forest Way is a beautiful campsite just outside Stutterheim. The weekend was profound and God broke in on us in unexpected ways. It was wonderful and I am sure we will look back on it as a significant spiritual marker.

The weather during the week leading up to the camp was freezing to say the least with snow falling on the mountains just behind the campsite. During the sessions we all sat wrapped in blankets around the Jetmaster fireplace drinking coffee trying to stay warm. I say all of that to say this: Much respect to Mandy who then proceeded to be baptised on saturday just before lunch. The weather was clear but not warm and I am guessing the water in the pool was less warm. I did feel the water but cannot say how cold it was because my hand is still numb....

This weekend we are off to a camp at Stutt which is going to be mighty mighty chilly....

Nic, Sue,Bluebird and Sunshine....

We had the pleasure of having Nic and Sue Black stay with us for saturday night this past weekend. They were travelling back to CT froma holiday in the Drakensberg. We stayed up late having a great chat which was wonderful. They joined us for church in the morning before heading off to Knysna on the next leg of their trip.
Before they arrived we went shopping with the Thompson's for a bookcase. They were supposed to be our consultants as they are antique shop experts with Den even admitting that Kim's Antiques is his favorite shop in EL! Anyway they ended up buying more furniture than us. We stuck to our plan of 1 big bookcase. They ended up buying a set of bedside cupboards, a kitchen unit, a dustbin and a butter dish.

They have also recently inherited a blue budgie name Bluebird by their daughter Ruth. It is not right for a bird to live alone..so Tess and I bought Bluebird a friend who is yellow. Ruth tried to name her, wait for it....Yellowbird, but Tess got in there first and she has been named Sunshine. So Bluebird and Sunshine are getting on fine and there it is.

2 Weddings and the flu...

We were recently in the beautiful city of Cape Town for 10 days. We had 2 weddings to attend,a multitude of friends to see and, of course, our wonderful family to spend time with. It was a really good time only marred by both of us picking up a nasty flu bug thing 3 days before flying back to EL.

Highlights in no particular order:
  • Taking a day to do the tourist thing around the peninsula.
  • Walking in the beautiful Constantia vineyards with my even more beautiful wife accompanied by Connie the Ridgeback and Bunny the Wiener dog.
  • Leading worship and singing "FREEEEEDOM" @ Rob and Karies wedding on Freedom Day in a tent in the rain.....the tent of meeting with His presence like rain....Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
  • Meeting the tiny brand new Miss Rebekah Fitzpatrick.
  • Spending time with our wonderful families and friends.
  • Playing X-Box
  • Hearing Floyd Mclung share at MBC and having him lay hands on us and pray after the meeting.
