A Blast of a weekend
As I write this I feel as though I have been on holiday for a month. I think it is a combo of having Don here and taking Friday off giving me a 3 day weekend. Saturday morning we went Lavender Blue for breakfast. It is a farmer's market with fantastic reasonably priced food. Apart from the food to eat there is other food on sale such as homemade gingerbeer, koeksusters, biltong etc. A whole bunch of us enjoyed a quality breakfast and a good time....and bought some other food.
We also celebrated James's great recovery after he had one of his kidneys out earlier that morning and still made it for breakfast. Now that's what I call commitment to community! Below is a picture of him holding his kidney. It could also be a large sweet potato that his mom grew. If it is in fact a large sweet potato that his mother grew then that would render my kidney story completely invalid....you decide.
Then we picked up the Playstation2 from James. Our motivation for this is that we had somehow convinced ourselves that SA was playing the NZ...but it turns out they weren't. So we decided to rent out Rugby2006 and play each other. But obviously many other people had the same idea and all 5 copies were out. So we stuck to what we had which in this case was "Need for Speed". This is, for the Playstation illiterate, a car racing game. With both of us having slightly competitive natures we decided to complete the different challenges where you had to beat the clock or outrun the cops etc. Anyway 6hrs later we were finshed....literally. My right eye had gone slightly bloodshot and Don was on the couch with both of his shut! Tess meanwhile had crashed on the bed for 6 hours after feeling like she was coming down with a bug. So she was ready to play cards or something but we were finished. So at 9:30pm we were in bed and lights out!
Sunday morning we had a great meeting. 2 babies were dedicated and the elders prayed and prophesied over the little ones.
Don had been considering a bit of a retreat. I had this place called "Forest Way" on my mind. It is a beautiful spot near Stutterheim with rivers, dams and forest as part of the huge property. I had done some basic research and it was looking good. It all came together as I landed up being seated next to a lady called Janine. She introduced herslef to me and it turns out she lives at Forest way and either owns or runs the place (Can't remember the details). Anyway the long and the short of it is that I am taking Don out there tonight..so all sorted out! Great stuff...GOD is good! He will be there until sometime towards the end of the week.
Then we hit lunch, then Tess and I hit a couple of showhouses, then Don and I hit a disappointing touch rugby game before we all hit a great braai at the Rautenbachs. We were then all hit-out...so we hit the bed. You might have noticed as I just have that Tess was in absolutely no pictures...I can assure you that she is alive and fine. She took most of the pictures and all the other times I have absoluely no idea what happened..but as Walt says: That's the way the boerewors bends!
