In the middle of the night

I got a call late on Wednesday evening that I was to go to a site inspection, at Stormsriver near Plett, the following morning....leaving time 4am! So 3:30am I was up and about. 4am I was in the passenger seat of a brand new 2.2l turbo-diesel C-class Mercedes Benz with Mike Nicolay and we were on our way.

What a great ride. We stopped to fill up and get some coffee at PE where I took over the wheel... sweeeeet! That car can really go!

The weather was beautful and by 9:15am we were at the Stormsriver petrol station having breakfast. The site inspection started at 11am. We broke for lunch at 12:30....1pm we all climbed onto a tour bus and set off for a look at the site. You will all know the section of road where you leave the Stormsriver petrol station heading for Cape Town and there is a narrow stretch through a foresty bit where the speed limit is 60km/h and there are always speed traps! Well...GOOD NEWS! That stretch is being upgraded and widened.

3pm we got back into the Merc and headed for home. I drove the 1st stretch. I was loving being behind the wheel of that car so much that I managed to keep going until the first bit of roadworks on the EL side of Port Alfred. I was not tired but like I said to Mike...better he hit a huge pothole in his wife's car than me! So with a hint of disappointment in my heart I climbed into the passenger seat and by 8pm we were home. Nothing like a 17hr day to knacker you out a bit!

The biggest nations of this trip was that I forgot my camera at home which means no pics I'm afraid! DOH!

This weekend Tess and I are heading up to the Arminel hotel in Hogsback for a FREEEEE weekend. We went to their sister hotel for our 1 year anniversary where some people had a huge party and kept us up until all hours...we complained and ....a FREEEEE weekend! (I won't forget the camera on this one!)
